A DG set backup takes a sluggish 5 minutes to restore the
emergency power to the lifts, whereas a ERD backup only takes 1-3 minutes to
supply the power, without harming up the electrical equipment’s. Moreover as per Haryana State government
rule, it is mandatory for any developer to get BCC set up an ERD- emergency
rescue device in the high rise buildings, even in the presence of a diesel
generator.

Benefits over conventional ERD’s:
Renutron iERD provides ECO mode operation, which is not
offered by any other ERD’s. It uses an intelligent GRID synchronised technolgy
specially designed for High Speed Regenerative drives used in high rise
bulidings.
Utility power is within safe limits during an normal
operation and the supply is done through a static switch. During mains fail
condition or if the utility supply goes beyond the predefined safe limits, immediately
lift load will be transferred to iERD without any break (<2mS).
In normal UPS, load is always running on inverter, hence it
consumes @10% more power as compared to ECO mode, due to double conversion
losses. In ECO mode regenerative power from LIFT gets fully utilized. Normally
it gets wasted in the form of heat energy in other normal UPS.
In ECO mode life of all power electronics and wound
components will be increased as inverter will come into operation only during
grid failure. Current harmonics reflected to the Grid are very less in iERD
with ECO mode as compared to any normal UPS.
In ECO mode, the UPS charger is normally used mostly for
charging the batteries so the ripple content is low as compared to double
conversion mode, as a result the battery life and performance get improved.
The audible noise is also low (< 4-5 decibels) also the
ambient temperature and that within the unit is low.
